I obviously love to paint cities, as can clearly be seen depicted throughout my art in
many different ways. But, I wanted to take my cityscapes a step further and paint
representational art of many iconic cities around the world. Each city has it's own
unique aura and mystique and I wanted to specifically capture the individual beauty
and charm of these renowned cities.
The key to the representation of each city is the use of recognized and iconic
landmarks exclusive to that particular city. They may not be displayed in a realistic or
even necessarily an accurate depiction, but they are distinctly and instantly
recognizable as the landmark of their host city.
One of the important aspects of just about any city in the world is the bustling activity
that never stops. To portray this movement and action, I use different angles and
shadows to highlight the never ending vivacity and life that emanates from each city.
The use of bold, contrasting colors also contributes to the energy and excitement,
pulling the viewer in deeper and deeper to the unique quality of these very special
places that so many call home.
I want to tell a story with each of these paintings, a story that resounds within those
who live in that city and a story that entices other's to visit and take in all that each
unique city has to offer. I hope you enjoy my stories as they continue to unfold into
fascinating paintings featuring compelling "Cities of the World".
