MADART Alaskan Series

I was raised in the tiny, remote fishing village of Meyers Chuck Alaska, 40 miles North of
Ketchikan, AK. Sometimes my siblings (4) and I were home schooled and other times we
would take a small skiff (boat) across several miles of open water. We lived on a house
that floated on logs and were surrounded by lush vegetation and abundant wildlife. My
husband and I also now have a summer cabin in Meyers Chuck so we can visit regularly
and enjoy the beauty and serenity Alaska has to offer.

For many years I've been wanting to do an Alaskan Series, but never felt I could come up
with anything that was sufficient enough to capture the essence and beauty of Alaska.
eagles resting on their favorite perch, whales breaching in the distance and nothing but
natural beauty wherever I looked. I quickly grabbed my sketch pad and started sketching,
the paintings on this page are just a few of my ideas and I have many more to come in this
very special series inspired by Alaska.

I hope you will enjoy my new series and for it to remind you of a vacation you've made to
Alaska, living here, or motivate you to make the trip of a lifetime to experience the wild
beauty of Alaska.
